Privacy Policy

Chatrise ("we", "our", "the app") is a Shopify admin assistant operated by Appsarise.

What we collect

When a merchant installs Chatrise from the Shopify App Store, we receive an OAuth access token from Shopify and store it securely in our database. This token allows Chatrise to query the merchant's store data on their behalf.

When merchants use Chatrise, we collect:

  • Messages typed into the chat interface
  • AI assistant responses
  • Tool calls made to query store data (products, orders, inventory, etc.)
  • Usage metrics (message counts, model used, plan tier)

We do NOT collect:

  • Customer-facing data (we do not access shoppers' personal information beyond what merchants explicitly query)
  • Payment card data (handled entirely by Shopify Billing)
  • Data from outside the merchant's connected Shopify store

How we use it

  • To provide the Chatrise service inside the merchant's Shopify admin
  • To improve product quality (aggregated, anonymized analytics only)
  • To enforce plan limits and billing

We do NOT:

  • Sell merchant data to third parties
  • Use merchant data to train AI models
  • Share merchant data with anyone other than Shopify (for app operations) and OpenAI (to power chat responses)

Third-party services

Chatrise is powered by OpenAI's ChatGPT API. Messages and tool calls are sent to OpenAI to generate responses. OpenAI's data usage is governed by their API data policy, which states that data sent via the API is not used to train models. See: openai.com/policies/api-data-usage-policies

Shopify Admin API: Used to query the merchant's store data. Governed by Shopify's API terms.

Data retention

Chat history is retained as long as the merchant has Chatrise installed. When a merchant uninstalls, their data is automatically deleted within 48 hours per Shopify GDPR compliance requirements.

Merchants can request deletion at any time by emailing [email protected].

Your rights

Merchants can:

  • Request a copy of their data
  • Request deletion of their data
  • Uninstall the app at any time

GDPR compliance

Chatrise implements Shopify's mandatory GDPR webhooks (customers/data_request, customers/redact, shop/redact). For shops in the EU or for EU customers, we honor all data subject rights requests within 30 days.

Children's privacy

Chatrise is a B2B product. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change.
